HIN 268 is a life-span developmental psychology course. It’s a prerequisite courses for admission.

You must fill out the HIN permission request form if you would like to request permission to take an HIN course. 

You will only be granted permission if you have completed 30 or more college credits, are a Nursing major, pursuing pre-requisites to get into the Nursing program, or you need one of these courses for another Health Sciences major, like Health Services Administration.

Tuition and Fees

The Generic Nursing programs, traditional and accelerated, are a 75-credit program. The Traditional Generic program is designed to be completed in 2 years. The Accelerated Generic program is designed to be completed in 15 months.

The RN-BSN programs, traditional and online, are a 37.5 credit program. This program is intended for NYS Registered nurses. It can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.

We accept Online RN-BSN applications for both spring and fall semesters on a rolling admissions basis.

The traditional RN-BSN (in-person) program for registered nurses has a fall start date only.

In addition to being an RN in NYS, those interested in our RN-BS program would need to complete the following pre-requisite courses before starting the nursing curriculum:   

• Any college-level chemistry course with a lab component 
• HIN 268: Human Growth and Development, or it's course equivalent 

Students will not be eligible to begin the nursing curriculum until all requirements have been met.

The Traditional Program is a pre-licensure, full-time, in-person program designed to be completed in 2 years. It begins every fall semester, with students attending classes during both the fall and spring terms.

The Accelerated Generic Program a full-time program designed for second-degree seekers. It is completed in 15 months, with classes starting every June and running year-round until the following summer.  

Those eligible for the accelerated program, do not have to submit a second nursing application to the 2-year traditional program. Accelerated applicants are automatically considered for the traditional program.

Both the Traditional and Accelerated generic nursing program are 75 credits long. The difference is the time in which you complete the program. The traditional generic program is designed to be completed in 2 years, during the fall and spring semesters. While the accelerated generic nursing program is designed to be completed in 15 months. All students start the program during the first summer session straight through the following summer session.

A minimum grade of a C (73) or better is required in all the pre-requisite courses, or their equivalents, and a MINIMUM CUMULATIVE GPA OF 2.75 or greater in the science pre-requisite courses to be eligible for admission to the Generic Nursing Programs.  

Effective 2027, all pre-requisite science courses (Biology and Chemistry) required for admission to the undergraduate Generic Nursing Programs will be subject to a seven-year expiration limit. 

Courses completed more than seven years prior to the date of application submission will not be reviewed for program eligibility, nor considered for fulfillment of admission requirements. Applicants with expired coursework will be required to retake the course(s) to demonstrate current competency. 

Please note: Although courses can be repeated in accordance with college policy, if a pre-requisite science course is repeated, only the first grade within the seven-year limit will be counted when considering eligibility for admission to the nursing program.

Students who have been dropped or academically dismissed from another nursing program are NOT eligible for admission to the nursing program at Lehman College.  

Additionally, students currently enrolled in another nursing program cannot transfer directly into Lehman’s nursing program. Transfer students must: 

1. Follow the application procedures for the Generic Nursing program, as highlighted on our How to Apply page, and complete all nursing courses required for the Generic Nursing major at Lehman College. 
2. Submit an official letter from your previous Nursing Department, confirming that you left in good academic standing, to the Nursing Admissions team at nursing.admissions@lehman.cuny.edu as part of your application.

The HESI exam can be taken twice within one admissions cycle. If you do not meet the minimum score requirement in any subject area, you must retake the entire exam. Only one score report will be considered in the admissions process. 

Additionally, the HESI exam results are valid for one year.  

If you do not pass the HESI-A2 exam on the second attempt, then you are welcome to apply to the nursing program the following year. 

If you were admitted to the Traditional Generic program, classes will start at the start of the fall semester.

If you were admitted to the Accelerated Generic program, the first day of classes is the first week of June, following Summer Session 1.

No, if your iDelcare form was approved for Nursing, this does not mean you have been official accepted into the nursing program. You must submit an application to the Nursing Department and all required documents for consideration to the program.

The Nursing Department at Lehman College has two Generic Programs: Traditional Generic and Accelerated Generic.  The Traditional Generic program is tended for students interested in obtaining their first Bachelor of Science in nursing.

The Accelerated Generic program is intended for applicants seeking a second bachelor’s degree in nursing. Applicants interested in this program must have completed a first bachelor’s degree in any area other than nursing.

Only first attempt grade within the last 7 years of your nursing application will be considered to determine eligibility for admission to the nursing program.

You are eligible to apply for the Accelerated Generic Nursing Program. This program is intended for applicants who are seeking their Second Bachelor’s Degree. The Accelerated Generic program follows the same coursework as the Traditional Generic program, except that it is 15 months accelerated program.

Dosage calculation workshop will be held after the March 15 nursing application deadline. Details are emailed to all prospective applicants after submitting the Nursing CAS application. Workshops will be held virtually.

An in-person exams will be administered by the Nursing Department on campus.

Applicants may sit for the dosage exam twice in a given admission cycle.

If an applicant does not pass the dosage calculation exam with a score of 95% or higher on the second attempt, then they will not be eligible for admissions that given year.

You are welcome to apply to the nursing program the following year. You will need to complete a new nursing CAS application. 

The nursing application opens from January 2nd- March 15th of every year.  

Yes, you can repeat a course according to the college policy. However, if you fail any pre-requisites course for the nursing program, you won’t be eligible for admission.

No, for undergraduate nursing programs, we don’t need students resume letters of recommendation or an essay. 

If you repeated a prerequisite science course in the past, the first grade earned will be considered.
