Fingerprinting


All Lehman College School of Education (SOE) students must be fingerprinted and pass a New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) background check prior to receiving fieldwork or student teaching placement assistance. You must follow the procedure below prior to receiving any assistance in securing s student teaching placement. Your status in the NYCDOE Personnel Eligibility Tracking System (PETS) must be listed as “Eligible” before you can be placed.

Complete Lehman 360(L360) Fingerprinting Application for any of the following reasons:

  1. NEED fingerprinting clearance for upcoming field work and student teaching and never previously applied in L360?
  2. Fingerprinted by NYCDOE but never submitted a School of Education fingerprinting application? Your L360 Fingerprinting Application must be on file for us to review and confirm eligibility.
  3. You were fingerprinted by New York State (NYSED) but need to have them TRANSFERRED to the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). You cannot be placed in a NYC school without them on file locally.

NOTE: NYCDOH (Dept. of Health) and NYCDOI (Dept. of Investigations) fingerprinting are NOT valid for NYCDOE clearance.


How to Complete Your Fingerprinting Application

You will need access to Lehman 360 (L360) to submit all applications. Follow L360 User Guide if you need assistance.

  1. Complete our Lehman College New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) Fingerprinting Application in Lehman 360 (Fingerprinting Application)
    • all sections of the form must be completed in full. Lehman College will enter your information into the NYCDOE PETS system.
    • If you do not have a Social Security number, you must write to clinical.practice@lehman.cuny.edu with Full Name, EMPLID and request information about fingerprinting without SS#.
  2. Look for a nomination email from PETS (Applicant Gateway) containing a fingerprinting referral form and background questionnaire. Check both your inbox and junk mail folders because the links in this email will expire 10 days after they are sent to you.

  3. The online background questionnaire AND fingerprint referral must be completed before you can be fingerprinted. Do not schedule an appointment unless all online forms in Applicant Gateway are complete.

    Steps for Scheduling Your Fingerprinting Appointments

  4. All fingerprinting is done by appointment only. You can schedule an appointment for fingerprinting by going to IdentoGo's website or by calling the toll-free call center at (877) 472-6915. Once you access the IdentoGo website, please enter the following service code when prompted: Service Code: 1588JG

  5. The fingerprinting fee will be $101.75, which can be paid online when you set your fingerprinting appointment or in-person when you appear for your fingerprinting appointment.

  6. Government-issued photo identification is required (Choose One):
    • Driver's license
    • US Passport
    • Permanent Resident Card

Fingerprint Transfer Forms

OSPRA 104 (PDF): For those fingerprinted by NYCDOE—this form indicates that you will allow NYCDOE to release your background check results to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for certification purposes. If you are planning to transfer your fingerprints to New York State, you must create a NYSED TEACH Online Services account before submitting your OSPRA 104 form.

Please email the OSPRA 104 form to HRCServiceCenter@schools.nyc.gov. Note: It typically takes 7-10 days to process.
