New Study Reveals Changes in NYC’s Dominican Community

Laird W. Bergad, Distinguished Professor of Latin American and Latino Studies at Lehman College and Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center, led a new study showing that New York City’s Dominican population fell nearly 13% since 2021.
Conducted by the Graduate Center’s Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies, the report links the decline to growing migration from New York City to other parts of the U.S., rather than reduced immigration from the Dominican Republic.
