Lehman College Earns Top Rankings for Social Mobility and Public Education

College rankings continue to roll in, and Lehman College is earning top marks across multiple national lists for value, academics, and student outcomes.
The Wall Street Journal ranked Lehman:
That follows last week's Niche.com numbers that put Lehman at:
  • No. 2  above Columbia University in "Best Value Colleges in the New York City Area";
  • among the "Top 10 Public Universities in New York";
  • and No. 7 for "Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in New York."  
In U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges rankings, Lehman tied for:

Last month, Washington Monthly listed Lehman as

  • a Best-in-Class College,
  • No. 6 "Best Bang for the Buck – Northeast."
  • No. 7 for "Best Four-Year HSIs", and
  • No. 14 in Master’s Universities,

What's more, Lehman ranks No. 3 on two of Forbes's  lists: “25 Colleges With the Highest Payoff” and "Best Online Colleges of 2025.

Earlier this summer, Money ranked Lehman No. 5 among public mid-sized colleges on its 2025 list of Best Colleges, awarding the College a 4.5 out of 5 for affordability, quality, and outcomes.

Each of these rankings highlights Lehman’s commitment to delivering high-impact, affordable education that drives real outcomes for its students.
