Biography

Jazmin Santana is a proud first-generation Dominican American from the Bronx who has dedicated her career to supporting underserved communities through education. A graduate of SUNY Potsdam, she earned her degree in English Communication and began her journey in education as a 6th-grade English teacher in the South Bronx. After four years in the classroom, Jazmin transitioned into higher education, joining Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, as an academic advisor for the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP).
During her time at Mount, Jazmin steadily rose through the ranks—from academic advisor to assistant director, and eventually to director of the programs—demonstrating her commitment to student success and program development. She later returned to New York City to build a brand new CSTEP program at Iona University, where she continued to advocate for first-generation college students and students from historically marginalized backgrounds.
As the daughter of immigrants and a first-gen college graduate herself, Jazmin brings empathy, experience, and a deep-rooted passion to her work. She looks forward to bringing that same energy to her role at Lehman, offering mentorship and consistency to help students reach their full potential.
