Caoimhe Forde

Caoimhe Forde is the Director of the CUNY Institute of Irish-American Studies and an Adjunct Lecturer in Irish language and literature at Lehman College. She holds a first-class honors B.A. and an M.A. in Modern Irish from the University of Galway, where she graduated top of her class. Caoimhe's research interests include Irish-language journalism and the promotion of Irish cultural identity in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Irish diaspora during the Revival period, and modern Irish language literature and poetry. She has taught at Fordham University, Manhattan University, and Glucksman Ireland House, New York University. Beyond academia, she has worked as a linguistic consultant developing AI software in the Irish language and Irish English. In 2020, she received the Irish Echo “Top 40 Under 40” Award and recognition from the New York State Senate for her work promoting the Irish language and culture.
