Biography

James Smith

James F. Smith has over 30 years of global financial experience. He has held senior management roles at leading firms including Jefferies, J.P. Morgan, and Goldman Sachs, where he led teams in equity capital markets, structured equity derivatives, and corporate equity derivatives. His teaching emphasizes practical application, preparing students for careers in finance by combining theory with real-world insights.

Professor Smith holds an MBA in Finance and Statistics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BBA in International Business and Computer and Information Systems from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Outside the classroom, he serves on the Board of Trustees and Investment Committee of Phipps Neighborhoods, a nonprofit organization supporting families in the Bronx.
