Jennifer MacKenzie
Jennifer MacKenzie (B.A., Wesleyan University, M.F.A., University of Iowa Writers Workshop) is a poet, journalist, writer and editor who has been a lecturer in Lehman’s departments of Journalism and Media Studies and English since 2014. Her full-length books of poems are My Not-My Soldier (Fence Books' Modern Poets Series) and pain survey (Inlandia Books, Hillary Gravendyk Prize). Her poems have appeared widely, including in Image, jubilat, Another Chicago Magazine, and Conduit, and her journalism and essays in outlets including the Kenyon Review Online, Latin American Literature Today, Religion and Politics, Guernica, Hyperallergic and Longform. Her work is rooted in care webs and cultures of resistance as they intersect with necropolitics and intergenerational violence. Her teaching incorporates multimodal approaches to writing and communication, including podcasting, globally networked learning environments, and local archival research. She is an editor at Killing the Buddha Magazine and occasionally co-translates poetry from Arabic.
