Programs
ESOL Program
The ALC offers classes for English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in which adult learners can progress from beginner to advanced levels while developing career-preparation skills.
The ESOL program includes:
- Assessment to determine class level; ongoing advisory services
- Morning or evening classes that build English speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and listening skills.

Adult Basic Education Program
The ALC offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes for people ages 16 and older who are no longer in school but want to improve their reading, writing, civic, and math skills.
The ABE program includes:
- Assessment to determine class level; ongoing advisory services
- Classes that start at beginner or intermediate levels
- Opportunity to advance to the High School Equivalency (TASC) exam preparation program
- Flexibly scheduled morning or evening classes

High School Equivalency Program
The ALC offers classes designed for adult students who need to prepare for the state’s TASC (formerly GED) exam leading to a High School Equivalency diploma.
The HSE program includes:
- Assessment to determine class level; ongoing advisory services
- Beginner and advanced classes
- Flexibly scheduled morning or evening classes
