Lehman College Launches New Podcast, 'Your Health Equity Matters'

February 4, 2026

Lehman’s School of Health Sciences, Human Services, and Nursing with the collaboration of the CUNY Institute of Health Equity is now on the air with its new podcast, “Your Health Equity Matters.” The podcast explores key issues in health equity, public health, and community wellness. Leading the conversations, the School’s Dean, Elgloria Harrison, brings in experts, faculty, and community leaders to highlight real-world solutions that make a difference in the Bronx and beyond. In this special two-episode launch, Harrison gives listeners an in-depth look at health equity and the role of vaccines in supporting healthier communities.

“I am excited to launch ‘Your Health Equity Matters’ and hope it becomes a trusted voice for health information for all who tune in,” said Harrison. “The Bronx struggles with some of the state’s most serious health challenges, including diabetes and heart disease, ranking it among New York’s least healthy counties. By providing clear information and encouraging open dialogue with healthcare providers, we empower the community to advocate for themselves and navigate their health journey with confidence.”

The podcast is designed to bring these important conversations into homes and spark the kind of kitchen table discussions about health that more families should be having, Harrison said. “Engaging in these conversations will help audiences become more knowledgeable and less worried or fearful,” Harrison added.

The first episode features Harrison’s conversation with Shirley Torho, President and CEO of Black Health, about what health equity truly means; in the second episode, Lehman College nursing faculty leaders Darcel Reyes and Natasha Nurse-Clarke discuss why vaccines for RSV, influenza, and COVID-19 remain essential for community health.
