Since our founding in 1968, Lehman College has stood as a beacon of hope, access, and excellence for the Bronx and beyond. From the opening of Carman Hall and the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts to the new Nursing Education, Research, and Practice Center, we’ve evolved into six schools and more than 130 degree and certificate programs. In fewer than six decades, Lehman—the only public, four-year university in the Bronx—is known nationally for transforming lives, creating impactful research, and shaping communities. In 2020, Lehman received a $30 million gift from the philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, the single largest gift in the college’s history and the most significant gift in the City University of New York (CUNY) history.
