Professor Karen Kushla received her Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University double majoring in Chemical Physics & English, she earned her Master's in Audiology at The College of New Jersey, and then earned her ScD in Audiology while minoring in Gerontology at Seton Hall University. 
In 2004, Professor Kushla earned the Student Investigator Award at the American Academy of Audiology and since 2023 she has been a Member-at-Large for the Special Interest Group 19 Speech Science of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is also a Lehman College Faculty Deputy for NSSLHA and the SWSLP.
