Natalia is an Environmental GIS specialist supporting U.S and international governmental agencies, NGOs, and academia, working at the intersection of Earth observations, disaster risk reduction, and capacity development. In that role, she served as a liaison with the regional Group on Earth Observations (AmeriGEO), coordinated NASA-funded projects, and engaged stakeholders across the Americas. Natalia has a strong interest in prospective and predictive modeling for disaster risk reduction. Her research interests connect satellite and sociocultural data with work on land use/ land cover change in volcanic hazard zones, landslide and flooding risk assessment and socioeconomic vulnerability mapping. She is interested in further developing these areas through collaborative work as a visiting scholar at Lehman College. Natalia holds an M.S. in Geographic Information Science from CUNY Lehman College and B.A. in Environmental Management from the Technological University of Perera in her native country, Colombia.
