Biography

Dejanira Alvarez

Dejanira was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and she is the General Director of the New York City International Book Fair (FILNYC) and the Associate Director of the Academic and Student Services Unit at the CUNY Mexican Studies Institute (MSI). In 2020, she founded the reading club Las Mimosas to promote reading and dialogue among women through literature.

One of her key responsibilities is serving as the General Coordinator of the FILNYC Anthology, a project dedicated to highlighting the work of authors who write in Spanish within and beyond the United States.

Throughout her career, Dejanira has led various projects focused on marketing, communications, and media strategies for sports and cultural events in Mexico and the United States. She currently oversees communication and media strategy for the Lorena Ochoa Foundation, an organization committed to improving education for children in Mexico.
