Program Overview

LUTE-STEM is a teacher residency program. Highly qualified master degree candidates who are interested in teaching mathematics and science related subjects at the early childhood, elementary, or secondary levels, as well as non-STEM future teachers interested in learning how to integrate design thinking into their instruction, are encouraged to consider LUTE-STEM as an option for completing their certification requirements. Central to the program is a year-long paid residency in a high need school (15 hours per week during fall semester and full-time during spring semester). Residents work as co-teachers in one of five partner schools; complete a master’s course of study; qualify for a NYSED teaching certificate by completing all required assessments and workshops; and earn a computer science education micro-credential.
