Biography

Stephanie (S.C.) Stowe (she/her), is a playwright, director, actor, and producer, with more than a decade of experience teaching, stewarding, and supporting the talents and voices of Lehman College writers and their work. From playwrights to poets, novelists to screenwriters, Stowe is committed to championing the talents of Lehman College student writers, guiding several to regional and national acclaim. Since 2012, Stowe has curated and directed Lehman College’s New Voices: The Student Playwriting Festival, and directed the development, premieres, studio workshops, and staged readings of more than 50 new plays. Stowe has a variety of credits with nationally recognized theaters, off-Broadway theaters, and national tours, including, Arvada Center for the Performing Arts, Olney Theater Center, The National Theater, The National Players, American Southwest Theater Company, The Bug Theater and Curious Theater. Off Broadway/off-off-Broadway playwriting and directing credits: Bank Street Theater, Cherry Lane Theater, Theater Row, Bronx Rep, The Belmont Playhouse, The Ossie Davis Theater, and The Nuyorican Poet’s Café. Awards: Best Short Play, Downtown Urban Arts Festival (Director, 2022), The Nuyorican Poets Café New Play Festival (Director, 2021), Kennedy Center American College Festival (Invited Director, New Play Showcase) Literary: Key West Literary Seminar, Marian Russo Award (Finalist, 2018). Stowe is currently a Lecturer at Lehman College where she has taught since 2005. Education: MFA from The City College of New York CUNY, BA New Mexico State University.
