Research

The Chemistry Department is active in a variety of areas of chemistry, including materials, medicinal, and environmental chemistry. It is the Department’s belief that research experiences provide students with essential skills and insights with which to pursue careers in science. Research experience imparts problem solving and analytical skills and is also excellent training for nonscientific careers such as law, medicine, and teaching. The Department is dedicated to integrating research with teaching, and students are encouraged to perform research with our faculty. An overview of research in the department is available or for more details see the Faculty page.

The Department is equipped with a wide range of research grade instruments that students use to learn useful skills and experience that are desirable for careers in science. See Available Instrumentation.
