OCS with Eudora

Instructions may also work with earlier versions of Eudora which
support IMAP. Versions of Eudora before
version 4 do not support IMAP and may not be used with OCS.

from POP to IMAP
Eudora refers to an email account as a personality.
To setup Eudora to work with OCS email, add a personality or a second
account. Your first or primary account is
referred as the dominant personality.
Select Tools
from the menu bar, then Personalities.
The Personalities frame will open on the left side of
the Eudora windows listing your primary email
account and other personalities you may have set up.
Right click in the blank area of the Personalities
frame to display
the context menu and select New
The Eudora Account creation wizard will start.
Enter the label you want to use for the new account
in the Personality Name textbox, e.g OCS:
OCS
Select Next
Enter your OCS email address in the Email Address
textbox:
firstname.lastname@lehman.cuny.edu
Note that
your email address will generally be your fully-qualified OCS email
address. Your email will
appear to the recipients of your mail to be coming from this
address. You
may also use your alias. It must
be a working email
address since it will be used in the "from" field of your mail and will
be used in replies.
Select Next
Enter the name of the incoming (IMAP) server in the
Incoming Server text box
ocsimap.cuny.edu
Select IMAP
as the type of server on the Incoming Server page.
Leave IMAP Location Prefix textbox blank
Select Next
Enter the name of the outgoing (SMTP) server
in the Outgoing Server textbox:
ocssmtp.cuny.edu
The checkbox next to Allow authentication should be
checked
Select Finish
The label of your OCS account should appear in the Personaility
window.
To review or change the settings of your account, right click on the
personality name and
select Properties.
To see the mailboxes associated with your accounts, click on the mailbox tab at the
bottom of the Personalities window. This tab is usually the first
tab on the left. To return to
the Personalities view, click on the Personalities tab. This tab
is usually the tab on the
right.
All POP accounts use the same folder of mailboxes. IMAP accounts
have their own
folders.
