Welcome!
The Department of Sociology offers a 38-credit program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. A 15-credit minor in Sociology is also offered.
The Sociology Program meets the academic and pre-professional needs of sociologists and teachers. The course of study provides training in research methods, data analysis, and computer applications for careers in social research. The program also leads to careers in other fields, examples of which can be found in Professional Opportunities. There are approximately six hundred sociology majors. While half plan to teach, a growing number is preparing to go to graduate school or take immediate positions in government, industry or social service.
