Specific accomplishments of which you are most proud

2002 - 2005 - I am most proud of having been a National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration's Cooperative Remote Sensing Science and Technology Center (NOAA-CREST) Fellow.  I learnt so much about conducting scientific research, and subsequently presenting findings.  It was a pleasure working with Dr Maantay and Dr Maroko.

2012 - I found out from a colleague that the methodology of my Masters Thesis was incorporated as one of the weekly lecture topics for students at Birkbeck College, UK.

2014 - I headed a team that has been nominated for the Prudential Productivity Award for saving the Agency $24,000 on ArcGIS licensing costs while I worked in the Technology Services and Support Office (TSSO) at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).  A solution was found allowing users to change ArcGIS license levels without being given administrative rights using Windows 7.  The solution is being implemented Statewide as a standard for all ArcGIS users.

Comments on the EEGS Dept Program you were enrolled in

The Geography department and the GISc program prepared me for life as a GIS Professional.  The first time I realized how well the GISc coursework prepared me for the real world was when I had to help someone (who studied GIS at an Ivy League University) carry out basic spatial queries (select attributes by location), and the person was shocked that GISc was taught at Lehman!  That was a proud moment.

I was eternally grateful for the great map layout classes Dr Maantay taught while reading for the MSc at Birkbeck College.  I could concentrate on the principles being taught, and produce excellent maps to display results.

I would DEFINITELY recommend the Geography and GISc specialization at Lehman College to anyone looking for a first rate education in Geography or GISc.

What else have you been up to?

I am married, and have a six year old bundle of joy baby girl.  I enjoy reading, hanging out with my daughter, and keeping up with various scientific (especially GIS related) happenings.
