Using Technology for Remote Learning Workshops For different age groups: grades K-2, 3-5, 5-7, 7-9, 10-12

Many of today’s teaching professionals have been thrust into teaching in an online classroom. To be truly effective, you must optimize your use of technology, not only to best teach students remotely but to continue to construct and reinforce positive relationships with and among students and their families, supporting much needed social-emotional growth. In these grade-focused workshops, you will learn how to explore use of the most appropriate asynchronous and live conferencing options and share strategies and discuss best practices.

TRE 01 / 5 sessions / 10 hours/ LEHC

Teaching Remotely/ Online: Transforming Student Learning with Emerging Technologies (CTLE 45 hours)

Methods and materials for distance learning in middle and high school levels. The first part of the course will cover common tools and technology used for distance learning. The second part of the course will cover instructional strategies and best practices for integrating learning technologies in classrooms. Students will reflect on the current context of distance education practice and challenges to educational equity posed by emerging technologies. A research paper or curriculum project is required. For pre and in service teachers grades 5-12.

Holders of professional classroom teaching certificates, educational leadership certificates, and Level III teaching assistant certificates, who practice in a NYS School District or BOCES, must complete 100 clock hours of acceptable Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE). You can report up to 18 CTLE hours per workshop completed.

Circle Up for Peace and Justice I (Beginner)

At this two-day workshop, you will learn how to lead circles that address conflict in school and community settings. You will explore the history of circles from various cultural perspectives; discuss its contemporary applications and limitations; and participate in role plays to strengthen your skills.

REJ 01 / 2 sessions / 16 hours / LEHC

Circle Up for Peace and Justice II (Intermediate)

Improve your facilitation skills in order to address challenges that arise during circle practice. You will participate in role plays that will help you navigate difficult situations and topics. For example, you will explore ways to address concerns such as self-awareness, implicit bias, isms/phobias, violence and trauma. You will discover solutions that help maintain the integrity of the circle and all its participants as challenges arise during circle practice.

Circle Up for Peace and Justice III (Advanced)

Learn how to use circle-keeping practice as a strategy for social justice. You will explore how circles can be an effective tool to disrupt racism, sexism, class elitism, homophobia, ableism, xenophobia and more. You will discover solutions that help maintain the integrity of the circle and all its participants.

COMING in 2021 — Meet an important need in the Bronx Region with this high demand! The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®) (CTLE 40 hours)

RBT certification is for paraprofessional certification in behavior analysis. RBTs assist in delivering behavior analysis services and practice under the direction and close supervision of an RBT Supervisor. The certificate is offered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board https://www.bacb.com/rbt/. SCPS will provide the 40-hour training that meets the requirements outlined in the RBT 40-Hour Training Packet. The certification preparation will also be eligible for 2 credits for current students or people subsequently enrolling at Lehman College.
