Wellness Education and Promotion Peer Educators
The Peer Educators are a group of student leaders who carry out the Wellness Education and Promotion Program's mission through peer education, classroom workshops, and event planning and promotion. The Peer Educators are selectively chosen through a highly selective Student Affairs application and interview process.
Meet the Peer Educators
Salimah Ross, Senior Peer Educator
Salimah is a sophomore at Lehman College, majoring in political science and philosophy. She is a Peer Health Educator with Peer Health Exchange, a Senator of the Lehman Student Government Association, and a peer note-taker. As a member of Lehman LIFE (Leaders Involved for Everyone), she has traveled to both Cincinnati and New Orleans with fellow students during spring break to assist with various community service projects. As an Orientation Workshop Leader (OWL), Salimah also helps to inform new students about the opportunities and services available at Lehman. In her spare time, Salimah enjoys going to the movies with her friends, shopping for unique jewelry, roller blading, and she is interested in fashion.
Joy Alisa Maraj, Peer Educator
Joy Alisa Maraj is a second degree student at Lehman College majoring in Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition. She is a member of the national American Dietetic Association. She was born and raised in New York. This is her first year as a Peer Educator. She enjoys teaching others about how to lead a healthier lifestyle and make better food choices. In her spare time she loves to travel, spend time with friends, and of course eat good food. Stop by the Wellness Education and Promotion office to talk to her about food, nutrition, or anything else that’s on your mind.
Brion Moss, Peer Educator
Brion Moss is a student in the Master's program in nutrition. He is a certified personal trainer, and a member of the Lehman College President’s Service Corps. He likes to draw, watch movies, read, and cook (everything from scratch when possible) in his spare time. He believes working in the Wellness Education and Promotion Office will help make him more of a well-rounded individual. Good health is more than just the absence of disease, eating healthily or being physically active; it’s being armed with the tools needed to cope with every day stress and other social factors. He looks forward to learning from colleagues, mentors, directors, and fellow students during this experience.
