New York, NY –The Lehman College women’s tennis team (0-2 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC) dropped their 2nd consecutive game to begin the 2007 season, falling to the Brooklyn College Bridges (2-0 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC) by a score of 7-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Lehman College Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY.
Lehman got off to a promising start, as the tandem of Aurora Peters and Evauna Neville took a 9-8 win in No. 1 Doubles over Brooklyn’s combination of Ruth Perez and Alina Binder. From there, however, the Bridges coasted, taking both doubles and all six singles draws. Lehman’s pairing of Jennifer Merkel and Carry Em fought valiantly at No. 2 doubles, but their best effort fell short as Brooklyn’s duo of Suzanna Klichinsky and Joy Rotstein emerged victorious by a score of 9-7.
The Lightning will hope to capture their first victory of the
season on Friday afternoon, as they travel to the College of Staten Island to
battle the Dolphins, with match time scheduled for 3:30pm.
