APEX Age Group Swim Club

Welcome to the APEX Swim Club. The USS Club provides its members with a progressive swimming program. Club members will have the opportunity to compete with other USS registered swimmers in local, regional and national competitions.

Eligibility

The Swim Club is open to age groups from seven to eighteen years old. All swimmers must be amateurs in good standing with United States Swimming.

Competition

The APEX Swim Club will select competitions from the area USS schedule. Regional and National meets are available to those who qualify. Entry fees, traveling costs and accommodations are the responsibility of the swimmer.

Location

All practices will be held at the newly opened APEX 50 meter 8 - lane Olympic-size Pool at Lehman College, part of the City University of New York, located at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, New York.

Registration

To register, complete the APEX Swim Club application form. You may register quarterly (pro-rated) or yearly; payment is due with your registration form. Make checks or money orders payable to Lehman College. An additional fee will be required to join USS. Applications are available from the Head Coach.

Admission

Program ID cards will be issued and must be shown at the main entrance.

From beginning swimmers to triathlets, we can meet your training needs.

U.S. Master's Registered Swimmers are invited to train in our Master's program.

Developmental I: This group is for the swimmer who is new to the APEX program. The emphasis will be placed on learning and perfecting proper breathing technique for Freestyle; learning the elements of competitive backstroke; basic starting techniques; and elements of swim club practice including: how to use the pace clock, how to use kickboards, pull buoys, fins, and hand paddles during the swim practice.

Quarterly fee: $110.00

Sessions: Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 - 5:15 pm Saturday at 11:00 - 11:45 am

Developmental II: This group is for swimmers who have graduated from the Developmental I Group, and can demonstrate good stroke technique in both Freestyle and Backstroke. The program will emphasize the learning of proper stroke mechanics and introducing the butterfly and breaststroke styles. There will be a continuous increase in distance at each practice.

Quarterly fee: $110.00

Sessions: Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30 - 4:30 pm Saturday at 10:00 - 11:00 am

Junior I: This level will concentrate on the preparation of the swimmer for competition. By this point in the program, swimmers will have a firm understanding of the four competitive styles, starts and runs, and race pace swimming.

Quarterly fee: $152.00

Sessions: Monday, Wed, & Friday at 3:30 - 5:00 pm Saturday at 10:00 - 11:30 pm

Junior II: This is an advanced level for the young swimmer who is already involved in competition and is preparing for the next level. An increase in training time and yardage is developed. Continued refinement of stroke mechanics through video analysis and stroke drills is stressed.

Quarterly fee: $152.00

Sessions: Monday, Wed, & Friday at 3:30 - 5:00 pm Saturday at 10:00 - 11:30 am

Senior Age Group: This level is dedicated to the swimmers who are working toward being the best they can be in competitive swimming. They will continue to work on stroke mechanics through the use of stroke and skill drills in practice sessions. Work-out yardage will be increased progressively to allow for maximum conditioning and competition racing will be increased.

Quarterly fee: $207.00

Sessions: Monday, Wed, & Friday at 3:30 - 5:00 pm Saturday at 10:00 - 12:30 am
