Lehman Announces Live Web Cast

Bronx, NY — As the Lehman College basketball teams enter the Christmas break, expectations are high for the second half of the season. Fans are encouraged to come out and attend all of the Lehman College home games at the lovely APEX Arena and cheer on the Lightning squads. For those fans who cannot make it out to the games, Lehman has made it easier to support your favorite team this season!

Under the direction of James Carney, and the department of Journalism, Communication and Theatre, all Lehman College men and women's home basketball games will be broadcast live via the internet. This amazing technology, which is mostly used in division I universities, now gives sports fans nationwide the opportunity to listen to Lehman athletics from all over the world for free.

Giving you the play-by-play for each of the Lightning broadcast is the exciting Leo Fortyz. Fortyz, a member of the men's baseball team at Lehman, was approached by Carney to see if he would be interested in this endeavor. Without hesitation, the eccentric Fortyz accepted and the rest was history.

"When professor Carney approached me about this project, I was extremely excited about the possibilities," said Fortyz. "It was both an honor and a priviledge to be asked to help in this inaugural event, and it is something I take deep pride in."

Fortyz also has an array of special invited guests analyst for each game, and his knowledge of Lehman athletics is very helpful to the listeners. The broadcast has been very helpful for Lehman athletics, and provides the Lightning an experience which is first-class, and unique in this area.

"Webcasting is a great opportunity for our basketball teams and our athletics department as a whole," said women's basketball coach Eric Harrison. "To give fans worldwide an opportunity to listen in on games from wherever they are located is an advantage for us both recruiting and for the development of our program."
