    Steve Schulman has transformed Lehman College from a once dormant program to one of the most successful and respected programs in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and the Atlantic Region. During Schulman’s tenure, the Lightning have posted six straight winning seasons and an impressive 108-58 record. (65% winning percentage) Averaging more than 17 wins a year. The Lighting have captured a variety of titles including a Hudson Valley Athletic Conference Championship in 2001 (HVAC), three CUNYAC North Division Championships (2002, 2004, 2005), four ECAC berths (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006) and, in 2004, Lehman’s first CUNYAC Championship since 1979 that led to a berth in the NCAA tournament.

    With Schulman’s success have come individual honors for the coach. In 2001, his first year at the helm of the Lightning, Schulman was named HVAC Coach of the Year. Then in 2002 he was recognized by his peers as the CUNYAC Coach of the Year. After his second straight 20 win season in 2005 he again was honored as the CUNYAC Coach of the year.

    Schulman came to Lehman after spending six seasons as the top assistant coach at Binghamton University (Binghamton, NY). While at Binghamton, he played a major role in the program’s transition to Division I athletics and helped lead the Bearcats to their fourth best record in school history in 1998-99. Prior to Binghamton, Schulman spent four seasons under the tutelage of Bob Schlosser at Division III power Elizabethtown College (Elizabethtown, PA). While at E-town Schulman, helped lead the Blue Jays to the second round of the NCAA tournament in 1993. In 2002 the Blue Jays advanced to the Division III National Championship game and finished second in the nation.

    Schulman started his college coaching career in 1989-90 when he served as the graduate assistant coach at Ithaca College under Head Coach Tom Baker, the winningest coach in Ithaca College.

    Schulman has established a reputation as an excellent recruiter. Over his 17 years in college coaching Schulman has recruited 3 All-Americans, 3 Conference Rookies of the Year, 13 All-Conference players and 6 1,000 Point Scorers.

    Schulman received his BA from Syracuse University in 1989 and his MS at Ithaca College in 1990. Schulman, along with his coaching duties at Lehman, is the Director of Physical Education and Athletics at the High School of American Studies at Lehman College, a specialized high school in the New York City Board of Education system. Schulman also serves as the Atlantic Region Chairman on the NCAA Division III Basketball National Committee. Schulman and his wife Kimberly and son Jake reside in Hastings-on Hudson, NY.

    Coach Terry enters his sixth season with the Lightning. A 1983 graduate of the School of Management at SUNY-Binghamton, was also a stand-out player for the University. During the offseaon, he coach & mentor high school players who participate in the Los Angeles Lakers & New York Knicks summer basketball camps.Coach Terry plays a privotal role in recruiting, scouting and player development.Terry is currently employed by Johnson & Johnson as a CNS Senior Specialty Sales Representative and reside in Bridgewater, N.J.
