was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1936. He studied at the University of Oklahoma, Drake University and the Des Moines Art Center with George Grosz, Louis Bouche and Will Barnet. Zox has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. He was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in 1967, a National Council on the Arts Award in 1969, a National Endowment for the Arts grant in 1969. Zox has been artist in residence and taught at Cornell University, Ithaca, the University of North Carolina, the School of Visual Arts, NY, Juniata College, and Dartmouth College. He has also been on the faculties of Yale University and Kent State University. His work has been shown in group exhibitions and one-person exhibitions have been held at The American Gallery, 1962; Kornbluth Gallery, Fairlawn, NJ, 1964, '66, '68, '69, '70, '71 and Andre Emmerlich, 1973, '75, and '76. His work is in public collections including: American Republic Insurance Co.; C.B.S., NY; Cornell University, Ithaca, NY; Museum of Fine Arts, Dallas, TX; Dartmouth College, Hampshire, NH; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; Indianapolis Museum of Art, MI; Museum of Modern Art, NY; National Bank of Des Moines, IO; Oberlin College, OH; South Mall, Albany, NY; and the Tate Gallery, London, GB.
