Player of The Week - Amir Tsekun, Baruch Sr., #4, Brooklyn, NY
A CUNYAC Champion last year at sixth
singles, Tsekun is undefeated (6-0) this
year at #4 singles. Last week, the graduate
of Sheepshead Bay HS beat Hunter's
Vince Salomnson 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 and Staten
Island's Paul Ricciardi 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 to
raise his league mark to 5-0. The only
blemish on his record was a 10-3 doubles
loss to Hunter's Anand Moses and Oded
Merion in first doubles with Thach Phu.
Rookie of The Week - Igor Brickman, Lehman Fr., #5, Bronx, NY
Also undefeated on the season, Brickman,
a 5'11 product out of Columbus HS, upped
his singles record to 5-0 last week with
three wins. To start the week, he won two
singles matches in three sets: 2-6, 7-5,
6-2 over John Jay's Luke Torres and 6-2,
2-6, 6-2 over CCNY's Phillip Gomez. He
ended the week withan easy 8-1 win over
Old Wesbury. In doubles, Brickman went
1-2 over the span.
