Player of The Week

JANNA DERJAVINA, BARUCH Jr. / #1 Singles / Forest Hills / Flushing, NY

The junior went 4-0 last week at #1 singles and #1 doubles. The Flushing, NY native opened the week by knocking off last week’s Player of the Week Sharon Fader (CCNY), 6-4, 0-6 (8-6) in the Bearcats victory. She also teamed with her partner Kateryna Pylypyshyna for a doubles victory. The Forest Hills product closed out the week with straight-set singles and doubles victories in Baruch’s win against Cooper Union. She is now a combined 6-0 on the season.

Rookie of The Week

KATINA MERINO, BROOKLYN So. / #1/2 Singles / South Miami/ Brooklyn, NY

The sophomore won all four of her matches last week for the Bridges and now owns a 3-1 record in both singles and doubles this season. In Brooklyn’s victory over Staten Island, she defeated Richie May Ynelino, 6-3, 6-1 at #2 singles and also won at #2 doubles with her partner Dana Caputo. The Brooklyn, NY native also won her #1 singles match in three sets as well as her #2 doubles match in the loss against Kean.
