Player of The Week - TOM WOHLFIT, STATEN ISLAND
Jr. / DH/ Moore Catholic HS / Staten Island, NY
The junior hit .526 (10-for-19) and drove in 14 runs in helping
lead Staten Island to a 4-1 week. The designated hitter also
smacked three homers and scored seven runs. The Staten Island,
New York native tied an NCAA record after connecting on
two round-trippers in the same inning in the first game of the
doubleheader against John Jay, and belted his third later in the
contest. The Moore graduate went a combined 6-for-7 with 11
RBI in the two games against the Bloodhounds. He also went 2-
for-3 and added a double in the loss against Ramapo.
Pitcher of The Week - NICK SECCHINI, STATEN ISLAND
Jr. / P / Tottenville HS / Staten Island, NY
The junior wins the award for the third consecutive week. The
defending Pitcher of the Year allowed just four earned runs in
12.0 innings of work (2.33 ERA) and won a pair of contests for
the Dolphins. The Staten Island native picked up a win out of the
bullpen against New Jersey City after yielding no runs and just
a single hit in 5.0 innings of work. The Tottenville product also
threw a complete-game victory against John Jay, allowing four
earned runs and fanning 11 Bloodhounds.
Rookie of The Week - DAVID MALAVE, LEHMAN
Fr. / First Baseman / St. Raymond’s HS / Bronx, NY
The freshman hit .545 (6-for-11) and drove in six runs in three
contests last week. The Bronx, NY native went 6-for-8, knocked
in six runs, and scored four more in Lightning’s sweep of Baruch.
The first baseman went 3-for-5 (3 RBI) in the opener and was a
perfect 3-for-3 (3 RBI) in the nightcap.
