Performer of The Week - CHERYL GWIZDALOSKI, CSI

The senior swimmer set two school records against Baruch last week, as Staten Island remained undefeated on the early season at 3-0. Versus the Bearcats, the 5’2” senior helped the 200 medley relay finish in 2:11, followed by a superb 1000 freestyle in 13:13. Moreover, in three meets, the Notre Dame High School alum has won all nine races she has entered this season, swimming in the 200 medley relay, 1000 freestyle and the 100 backstroke in each meet.

Rookie of The Week - CATHERINE VAN DER OSTEN, CSI

A 6’2” freshman from Tottenville High School, Van Der Osten has five first place and four second place finishes in three meets this year, including a leg of the Dolphins’ school record 200 medley relay against Baruch last week. A butterfly and freestyle specialist, she won all three events in the aforementioned 48-point victory over Baruch: 200 medley relay (2:11), 50 freestyle (27:22) and the 100 butterfly (1:02), as the Dolphins move to 2-0 in CUNYAC action..

Performer of The Week - Allan Kok, Staten Island

One of the top swimmers in CUNY over the past two seasons, Kok, now a junior from St. Peter’s High School is back in top form. The 5’6” allaround swimmer won five of his six events in the Dolphins two wins this season. Against New Jersey Tech, he swam 0.24 in the 50 freestyle and followed that with a 1:01 performance in the 100 butterfly. In the Baruch victory, he was first in the 200 freestyle (2:06) and the 100 fly again (1:03). Coincidentally, in both meets the Dolphins also won the 200 medley relay in 1:49.

Rookie of The Week - VLADIMIR FEDOSSEEV, CSI

Like Van Der Osten on the women’s side, Fedosseev is a heralded freshman from Tottenville High School at the southern end of Staten Island. Fedosseev has not lost a race yet, going 6-for-6 in two wins for the Dolphins. In both meets he topped his opponents in the 200 medley relay and the 200 individual medley (including a 2:03 versus New Jersey Tech). In the NJIT meet, he also won the 100 freestyle in 0.52, while his 1:05 time in the 100 breaststroke was also tops on the day.
