The fourth-seeded College of Staten Island Dolphins posted an 87-59 victory over #5 Manhattanville in the quarterfinal round of the 2004 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Sports and Recreation Center on Wednesday. The Dolphins used an 11-0 run that turned a 13-10 lead into a 24-10 lead midway through the first half in a game in which they never trailed. Junior Michael Nebavlakis (Brooklyn, NY/FDR High School) led all scorers with a career-high 30 points and freshman Robert Mesjasz (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter’s HS) added 10 points for CSI in the win. The Dolphins (19-8) will advance to the semi-finals on Saturday at top-seeded Ramapo College, 86-72 winners over #8 City-Tech. Manhattanville (18-10) was led by Mike Benzinger (Sonoma, CA) with 14 points and John Danielski (Ansonia, CT) added 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
