Male Runner Of The Week - Omri Holzman, Hunter
Bronx, NY - Another week, another gold medal for the
two-time defending CUNYAC champion.
The Tel-Aviv, Israel native has already won
a total of four races in 2004. This past
weekend at the Montclair State Invitational,
the junior turned in one of the best
recorded times ever at Garrett Mountain
Reservation, winning the 8k-event in
27:16. His time was twenty-one seconds

Women's Tennis Player Of The Week - Janna Derjavina, Baruch
Bronx, NY
- The junior went 4-0 last week at #1 singles
and #1 doubles. The Flushing, NY native
opened the week by knocking off last
week’s Player of the Week Sharon Fader
(CCNY), 6-4, 0-6 (8-6) in the Bearcats victory.
She also teamed with her partner
Kateryna Pylypyshyna for a doubles victory. The Forest Hills product closed out
the week with straight-set singles and doubles

Men's Soccer Player Of The Week - Vojdan Rosoklija, Hunter
Bronx, NY
- The sophomore scored what proved to
be the game-winning tally in Hunter’s
3-2, conference victory versus previously
unbeaten (in CUNY) City Tech on
Saturday. The Demarest, New Jersey
native, who now has seven points on
the season, also notched an assist on
the Hawk’s second goal of the contest.
The victory put an end to Hunter’s sixgame
losing streak, and they will try to
make it two straight with a win at William
Paterson on Monday evening

Women's Volleyball Player Of The Week
Meital Ben-Tovim, Hunter
Bronx, NY
- The senior hit for a tremendous .350
percentage in Hunter’s 2-2 week. The
outside hitter averaged 3.62 kills per
game and also added 12 blocks, 12
digs, and six aces on the week. In the
conference victory against Medgar
Evers, the native of Hod-Hasharon, Israel
compiled 12 kills (.390 hitting percentage)
and recorded four blocks. She
was even more efficient against New
Jersey City, hitting .420 with19 kills.

BMCC Earns Men's Soccer Honors
Bronx, NY - Gene Mulliqi, a 6-0 forward from Borough of Manhattan Community College, is the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Player of the Week. Mulliqi lead Borough of Manhattan to a 2-1 win over sixth-ranked Ulster Community College, accounting for three of the games five points with one goal and one assist.

Community College Women’s Volleyball Championship
Brooklyn, NY - Host Kingsborough Community College captured their first CUNY Athletic Conference Community College
Women’s Volleyball Championship since 1994, sweeping Borough of Manhattan Community College 30-16, 30-21, 30-17, in
the championship game.
Kingsborough (4-1), who won all four of their matches and dropped just one set on the day, did most of their damage

The 2004 CUNY Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships should be
extremely exciting with the addition of a number of talented newcomers as well
as some solid returners. The event will once again take place and historic Van
Cortlandt Park on Sunday, October 24. Hunter is the defending champion on the
men’s and women’s side.

Lehman All-American To Compete For His Native Country, Guinea in Athens Olympics
Lightning Sprinter To Carry Flag In Opening Ceremonies
Bronx, NY - Former Lehman College track All-American Nabie Fofanah has been selected to participate in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Fofanah will represent his native country of Guinea in the 100 meter trials, and 200 meter trials beginning August 21st. Fofanah, the 2003 Lehman College Male Athlete of the Year, will be featured in the opening ceremonies, as he will carry the flag representing Guinea.

Bronx, NY - Zak Ivkovic was named as the Executive Director of the City University of New York Athletic Conference
(CUNYAC) by Dr. Otis Hill, CUNY’s Vice Chancellor for Students Development and Enrollment Management.
Only the third commissioner in CUNYAC’s 18-year history, he succeeds his mentor, Ted Hurwitz, who retired

Goodwill Team Enjoys Final Day Of a Memorable Trip
The
day started out with a phone call at 7:00 am telling us that our
11:00 am game was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. (Leaving
CUNY with a 2-2 record on the trip) Instead, we headed to Marcello
Miranda s school to do a clinic with some less fortunate children.
These children worked on shooting and ball handling with our staff
and student-athletes.
