Veteran or Reservist students entering Lehman College should contact Ms. Suilan Berges in the Registrar’s Office. You will need to have the following forms with you:

  • Discharge Papers: DD214 Forms
  • Picture I.D., if on active duty or if in the reserves. 

G.I. Bill forms (Form 22-1990) can be obtained in the Registrar’s Office or on line.

If you need help with your V.A. education benefits, call 1-888-442-4551. Forms for spouses and dependents of disabled/deceased Veterans (Form 25-5490) can also be found on the website.

Anyone receiving Chapter 30 benefits (Montgomery G.I. Bill - Active Duty) or Chapter 1606 benefits (Montgomery G.I. Bill - Selected Reserves) must verify their enrollment each month to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in order to receive payment for that month. Your enrollment can be verified on the last calendar day of the month by using the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system, which can be accessed online or by calling the toll free, Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone line at 1-877-823-2378.

Additional Registrar Services

  • Records: For name changes, address changes, filing of major/minors, and to check on the status of grade changes. Shuster Hall, Room 108.
  • Transcripts: To order your Lehman transcript (available for pick up or mailing). Shuster Hall, Room 108.
  • Semester Information: To drop and withdraw from classes; to obtain a statement of attendance or insurance verification; to certify TAP; veterans’ issues. Shuster Hall, Room 114.
  • Senior Registrar’s Office: To obtain an E-Permit (permission to take a class at another CUNY school); for residency matters (for continuing students); and for military credit assistance. Shuster Hall, Room 182.
  • Graduation Audit: To apply for graduation. Shuster Hall, Room 105. 

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid office is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date information available about the financial aid process, including information concerning Veterans Education Benefits. The Financial Aid office and Computer Lab in Shuster Hall Room 131-A is accessible to students for online filing. The Computer Lab is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, from 5-6:30 p.m..

Academic Advising

The Office of Academic Standards and Evaluation houses the Academic Information and Advisement Center. The Office monitors the academic policies of the college and provides information on such matters as admission requirements, academic standing, appeals, grading, retention and probation, and transfer policies. The Center provides academic advisement for all undergraduate students with regard to general education requirements. Major advisement is provided by individual academic departments. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, by appointment, when classes are in session.

Career Services

The Career Services Center provides individualized attention to students and alumni who are considering majors, seeking career direction, exploring internships, and searching for jobs. Included among the available services are personalized career counseling; resume and cover letter assistance; workshops on interviewing, job search-strategies and networking; internships, community service and service-learning opportunities; the chance to meet prospective employers and compete for regional and national positions; and opportunities to meet with successful alumni. The Center and its computer lab/library, with career-related software and internet access, are open, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Evening hours are available on Tuesdays and Wednesday, 5-6:30 p.m., only when classes are in session.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center provides confidential individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to campus services and outside mental health agencies. Services are free to all Lehman College students and are provided by qualified professionals. The Counseling Center is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center is a primary health care facility that offers a limited range of health services to all Lehman College students with a valid I.D. Most of the services are free of charge due to the student activity fee included in your tuition. Other services are available for a small fee.

The Student Health Center also provides specialized care to and for women. Visits are scheduled by appointment and a $5 deposit is required. The deposit is forfeited if you fail to call to cancel or change an appointment.

Wellness and Health Education

Wellness Educaton and Promotions

The Student Health Center provides health education and promotes campus-wide wellness initiatives. It provides students with the tools they need to manage their nutritional needs, physical fitness, social behaviors, and emotional relationships. The Wellness and Health Education’s outreach programs include health fairs, informational fliers and brochures, workshops and classroom lectures, blood drives, and other special events. The program also sponsors Peer Health Educators, a group of student leaders who work under the supervision of the Director of Wellness and Health Education to carry out the program's mission through peer education, leadership, and mentorship.

Student Disability Services

The Office of Student Disability Services provides a wide range of services for eligible students, including those with temporary medical issues and those in recovery. All services are confidential. Services provided include note takers, readers, scribes, alternate testing facilities and accommodations, sign language interpreters, program planning and registration assistance, counseling, limited tutoring, agency and community referral, E-text and alternately formatted materials. The Access and Technology Center, located in Room 215 of the Library, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and assistive software programs specifically for students with learning, sensory, or physical disabilities. The office will also assist students in obtaining specialized aids, materials, and equipment where appropriate. We work closely with the college’s faculty and serve as a resource for the entire campus.

Child Care Services

The Child Care Center is committed to providing an environment where a child’s growth is supported and stimulated in all areas of development. Licensed by the New York City Deptartment of Health and the Bureau of Day Care, and accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, the Center provides daytime childcare services to two-to-four-year-old children, an after school program for children five to nine years of age, and evening programs for five-to-eight-year-old children of parents taking evening classes. A Saturday program for children 5-to-9-years of age is also available, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Enrollment for all programs is based on dated applications and services are provided for a nominal fee. Services are only available to currently, matriculated Lehman College students.

Campus Life implements a comprehensive student development program that complements the academic experience. The Office assists student government and clubs in planning, budgeting, and implementing special programs. In consultation with the College community, the Office of Campus Life sponsors leadership training retreats, sexual harassment education seminars, and new student orientation programs, as well as thematic activities. The Office also collaborates with local and national non-profit agencies and organizations to provide community service on and off-campus.

The Instructional Support Services Program (ISSP) helps to provide the academic development of Lehman students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students can take advantage of tutoring, workshops, and additional resources to support their classroom learning, including the services of the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) and the Science Learning Lab Center (SLC).

A.C.E. offers workshops and tutoring in writing, reading and research, as well as content tutoring in the humanities and social sciences. A.C.E.’s staff of certified peer tutors and content specialists works with students at all academic levels. It also provides workshops and support to help students pass the CUNY Proficiency Exam and the CUNY Assessment tests in Reading and Writing. For those who wish to improve their writing and language skills, software is available that allows students to work independently, at their own pace, while using a series of guided tutorials. To sign up for an appointment, students may visit A.C.E. during the following regular hours in the Fall and Spring Semesters: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Science and Learning Center

The Science and Learning Center provides tutoring in the natural and computer sciences, as well as in upper-level mathematics. The SLC also provides pre-semester and semester long review workshops for historically challenging science courses. Computers in the SLC feature several science learning software programs students may use independently. The Science Learning Center is a drop-in tutoring center every day it is open, with the exception of Fridays; students should make appointments for Friday tutoring. Students may visit the Center during the following regular hours in the Fall and Spring semesters: Monday through Thursday, nine in the morning until seven in the evening; Fridays, nine in the morning until one in the afternoon, by appointment only; and, Saturday, ten in the morning until two in the afternoon. The ACE and the SLC are not open when classes are not in session and when the College is closed. They may, however, be open for scheduled workshops. Writing/Learning Center

The Writing and Learning Center provides tutors who can assist students in interpreting assignments, generating ideas, posing questions, organizing thoughts, and developing ideas into coherent papers in most academic fields. When classes are in session, the center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.; Fridays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The Center is closed when classes are not in session.

Academic Computer Center

The Academic Computer Center houses microcomputer classrooms, an open lab, printing facilities, and a Help Desk. A list of systems and available software can be found on the I.T.R. website. The Center also provides access to the Internet and campus network services, including Lehman e-mail, web-based applications such as the CUNY Portal and Blackboard, the World Wide Web and remote Library and specialized departmental resources. For information on the hours of operation call 718-960-7333. Students can request information about or assistance with I.T.R. services by contacting the I.T. Center Help Desk by phone at 718-960-1111, by e-mail to helpdesk@lehman.cuny.edu, or in person by visiting the Academic I.T. Center in Carman Hall, Room 108. Additional information on I.T. services for Lehman students is also available by visiting college and CUNY Web sites.

The Math Lab

The Math Lab provides basic math tutoring for students in MAT 030, 104, 132, 155, 171, 172, 174 and 176, as well as CMP 230 and 326. Students seeking help in mathematics for math-related courses in accounting, physics, psychology statistics and others, as well as in math-related programs such as the G.R.E. or G.E.D. In addition, the Lab offers tutoring workshops in preparation for the Compass ACT Math exams. The Math Lab is open on a non-appointment, walk-in basis Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Lab is closed Fridays. The Math lab is also open during summer and the winter intersession.
