SEEK Counseling and Advising
Upon admission to the Program, each SEEK student is assigned a professional SEEK Counselor who assists with student’s academic, career, and personal development. SEEK Counselors are trained and qualified to assist in all areas of college development, including advisement, career planning, school performance, and personal/social growth.
Students are encouraged to see their counselor at least three times per semester:
- At the beginning of the semester for a goal-setting session.
- In the middle of the semester to check academic progress and update financial aid.
- At the end of the semester to recap the semester's work and do program planning for the next semester.
Your instructor for the SEEK Freshman Seminar, which you will take during your first semester (under the auspices of the Freshman Year Initiative), will most likely be your SEEK counselor. Transfer students are assigned SEEK Counselors upon acceptance to the SEEK Program. All SEEK students have access to SEEK counseling services for as long as they are enrolled as SEEK students at Lehman College.
