Acknowledgments
Lehman
College Library’s Bronx Business for Everybody digitization project
was supported in part by funds from the Metropolitan New York Library
Council (Metro) through the New York State Regional Bibliographic Databases
Program.
We also
acknowledge earlier grant funding received in 1990 from the NYS Education
Dept.’s Conservation & Preservation Discretionary Grant. This allowed us to
microfilm the Bronx Chamber of Commerce’s photographs, minutes, scrapbooks,
and magazine Bronxboro. The microfilm of this collection is housed at
Lehman College Library. A duplicate microfilm set was made for the New York
State Library in Albany, where it can be used by upstate researchers.
It should
be noted that all Chamber correspondence, maps, press releases,
invitations, membership cards, etc. were given to the Bronx County
Historical Society in 1975. The Bronx Chamber of Commerce ceased operation
in 2000. Another organization called the New Bronx Chamber of Commerce was
founded in 2001 and is thriving today.
Finally,
we thank Dr. Rona Ostrow, Chief Librarian of Lehman College Library;
and Mr. Richard Kim, from Metro, for their support of this project.
