CUNY Assessment Test Writing and Reading Workshops
CUNY Assessment Tests Writing and Reading Workshops will be offered for the Fall 2011 semester. Advance sign-up is required. To register for ACE test preparation workshops, students must have scored at least a 50 on the Reading Test and a 50 on the Writing Test.*
Contact the Academic Center for Excellence at 718-960-8175 to register for workshops. Students must complete 20 hours of intervention before they can retest and attend all the classes offered in the sessions of the workshops listed below.
All CUNY Reading Assessment Test Workshops will be held on Tuesdays from 6:15 p.m.-8:45 p.m.

*Students who are not eligible to take the ACE test prep workshops should contact the Freshman Programs Office at 718-960-8720 to sign up for an intensive summer or winter workshop.
Academic Skills Workshops
Academic Skills Workshops address a range of topics beneficial to undergraduate and graduate students.* Workshop topics vary by semester. Advance sign-up is required for all workshops. Call 718-960-8175 to sign up for a workshop and to find out the workshop location.
Critical Inquiry
This workshop provides an introduction to developing strategic ways of reading various types of texts, including scholarly articles. Wednesday, September 21, 3:30-5:30 p.m., or Thursday, September 22, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Research Process
Participants will learn various ways of approaching research projects in manageable steps. Monday, October 3, 3:30-5:30 p.m., or Thursday, October 6, 6-8 p.m.
Integrating Sources: Quoting, Paraphrasing, and Summarizing
This workshop offers a review of three essential tools writers use in source-based writing: quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing. Wednesday, September 28, 3:30-5:30 p.m., or Thursday, September 29, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Integrating and Citing Sources: APA Style
Students will learn how to use the APA guidelines more accurately, as well as gain a better understanding of their purpose.
Monday, October 17, 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., or Thursday, October 20, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
*Note: ACE workshops are primarily designed for an undergraduate audience, though graduate students are more than welcome to attend.
Science Learning Center Workshops
The following workshops will be offered on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. during the Fall 2011 semester. Workshop instructors will review lecture material, answer questions, and provide additional resources to supplement course content.
Workshops will start on Wednesday, September 14, and run all semester.
