The Visual Elements class at Lehman College's Summer Art Academy at its College Now program focuses on theater make-up and set-up design. The Theatre experience is a collaborative effort of artistic and technical skills. This labor intensive Visual Elements course is designed to introduce students to the world of theatre through the visual elements component. The class is introduced to the relevant theatre history of the plays that are performed at the end of the session. The class covers the functions, processes and tools of the set, costume, lights and makeup designers in lectures, readings and tours. The students each receive a makeup kit to practice the various techniques of stage makeup.
