Dr. Harriet R. Fayne
Dean, School of Education
With more than thirty years of experience in higher education, Dr. Harriet R.
Fayne has led initiatives to improve scholarship, expand community partnerships,
and foster institutional growth. At Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio,
she was dean of the School of Professional Studies and was responsible for
managing budgets in excess of $7 million, as well as fifty-seven full-time
faculty. Under her leadership, the School codified policies and identified
opportunities across the campus to expand graduate offerings. Prior to serving
as dean, Dr. Fayne chaired Otterbein's Education Department for sixteen years.
She is well-versed in the fields of educational psychology and higher education
administration. Her work has been published in The Professional Educator, New Directions for Teaching and Learning, Networks: An Online Journal
for Teacher Research, and other professional journals. Dr. Fayne holds a
B.A. from Barnard College, an M.A.T. from Harvard University, an M.A. and M.Ed.
from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in educational
psychology from Columbia University.
Dean Fayne has been Dean of the Lehman School of Education since August 1, 2011.
