Recognition for Work of Bronx SBDC
December 23, 2010
Bronx Small Business Development Center Director Clarence Stanley was recognized on December 22 for the Center's work in helping to drive economic success in the borough. Since 2000, the Center, which is located on the Lehman campus, has counseled 7,413 clients and conducted 419 workshops or seminars with 9,495 attendees, helping to invest over $80 million in the area's economy, which has resulted in 2,489 jobs being saved or created.
The recognition was part of the First Annual Business Luncheon, in which the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation presented the results of both last year's economic summit and its first full year of providing service to Bronx businesses under the leadership of Borough President Ruben Díaz, Jr.
"We have been providing important financial support and assistance to our business community, and the results are already showing," said Marlene Cintron, president of the BOEDC. "This year, BOEDC has been actively and successfully carrying out its mission to improve our borough's business environment by working together with our merchants' associations and small and large business owners toward the common goal of building a brighter economic future for The Bronx."
