Uniting for the Heroes in Our Lives
November 30, 2010
Multimedia journalism major Trent Love knows what it's like to be in combat over the holidays and away from family. A veteran of the Iraq War, Love was stationed overseas during 2002-2004 for several holiday seasons when his daughter was just an infant.
That's why on Friday, December 10, from 3-6 p.m., he will host "United We Stand: A Hero's Salute" in the BronxNet Studios on the Lehman campus (Room C4 of Carman Hall). Love won a Bronx Excellence in Television Access Award for one of his BronxNet productions.
The event will provide an opportunity for anyone in the Lehman community to film a holiday greeting for his or her own father overseas or for any friend or family member currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
"I know what it's like for these soldiers," he says. "It's very, very tough. So any little thing that you could do can go a long way. It's all about keeping families together. If they can't be together physically, then they can be together emotionally."
