Education Professor to Read from Her Poetry Chapbook

Professor Amanda Gulla

Professor Amanda Gulla (Middle and High School Education) will read and discuss her new poetry chapbook, A Banner Year for Apples, on Oct. 28 in the Leonard Lief Library. All are invited to the event, which will be held from 4 - 5 p.m. in the Atrium on the second floor of the Leonard Lief Library. Space is limited, however. Professor Gulla holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from Sarah Lawrence College and a master's and Ph.D. in English education from New York University.

A former New York City Writing Project teacher-consultant, she focuses her research on arts education, teacher identity, and the teaching of writing, and she has published articles in a variety of journals, such as New Educator, Perspectives on Urban Education, and The English Journal. She is also a published poet whose work has appeared in RiverSedge, the University of Texas literary journal, Common Lives, and Chronogram, where the title poem of her book was recently published. She is the winner of the 2001 "In Our Own Write" poetry award.
