Migrant Citizenship: A Topic for Discussion and Dialogue

Dr. Alyshia Gálvez will bring a group of Lehman students to Fordham University on October 27 to engage in a dialogue about religion, immigrants, and the Bronx. Afterward, she will give a talk on "Migrant Citizenship: How Mexican Immigrants in New York Articulate Rights in the Margins of Immigration Law." Last year Dr. Gálvez published Guadalupe in New York: Devotion and the Struggle for Citizenship Rights Among Mexican Immigrants, in which she describes the combination of devotion and political activism being used to draw attention to the plight of Mexican immigrants in the U.S.
