Programs by Two JCT Faculty Members Win Emmy Nominations

Congratulations to Professors Patricio Lerzundi and James Carney, both of the Department of Journalism, Communication, and Theatre, on the recent New York Emmy AwardŽ nominations for their programs.
Nueva York, the biweekly magazine show that Professor Lerzundi co-hosts over CUNY-TV, was nominated in four categories: Magazine Program, for Best of Season 4; Politics/Government: Program Feature/Segment, for Hispanic Woman's First Time Voting; Arts: Program Feature/Segment, for Nueva York: Tribute to Puntilla (Havana 1947-New York 2008); andPromotion: Program Promo-Campaign, for Season 4 promos. This is the second year in a row that the program has earned an Emmy nomination.
Memory Brings Us Back: Irish Stories of Farewells and Fortunes, which Professor Carney coproduced for BronxNet, has been nominated for an Emmy in the category of "Historical/Cultural Program Special." Built on a 2006 book that was published by the Aisling Irish Community Center in Yonkers, the program details the lives of ten Irish immigrants who came to America between 1929 and 1965. Derek Woods is senior producer, and Sean McGinn associate producer.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Sunday, April 18, at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The nominations were announced live on February 25 from the studios of CUNY-TV.
