Deborah B. Eldridge
Prior to joining Lehman, Professor Eldridge was chairperson of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Montclair State University and earlier had been chairperson of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Hunter College. She is also a former assistant dean of education and NCATE (National Council on the Accreditation of Teacher Education) coordinator at Hunter. An expert in literacy, language arts, and teacher preparation programs, Professor Eldridge is the author of Teacher Talk: Multicultural Lesson Plans for the Elementary Classroom (1998, Allyn and Bacon) and the forthcoming Literacy for Life (2010, McGraw-Hill), as well as other numerous scholarly publications. She is an active member of several national professional societies, including the International Reading Association and the National Reading Conference, and in the last decade has received and administered more than a dozen major grants for various programs and research projects, totaling over $1.5 million.
