he prestigious Key Chapter Award was presented recently to members of
the Lehman College Chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society at
the Golden Key International Conference, "Unlock the Possibilities,"
held in Atlanta, GA.
The selection of Key Chapter Award winners marks a 22-year tradition
for the Society. The award honors chapters that have excelled in five major
areas: communication, publicity, meeting management, chapter activities
and leadership, as well as in participation in regional and international
programs.
This year, the Lehman Chapter exemplified outstanding teamwork, dedication
and collaboration with other student organizations on their campus. It
also was engaged in a combination of service, academic, social and fund-raising
activities throughout the year.
The Lehman chapter is definitely "Unlocking the Possibilities."
Delegates from the Lehman Chapter accepted the award at the International
Conference awards luncheon in front of more than 800 delegates from around
the world. All chapters may apply for this award; however, only the most
outstanding chapter is selected to receive the honor. Prof. Fred Phelps
(Psychology Department) and Haydee Acevedo (Business Office) serve as the
advisors to the Lehman chapter.
Golden Key International Honour Society was founded in 1977 in Atlanta.
The global non-profit organization provides not only academic recognition
to college juniors and seniors in the top 15 percent of their class, but
also leadership opportunities, community service, career networking and
scholarships. The Society has nearly 350 chapters at colleges and universities
in the United States, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand and South
Africa. Membership in the Society is by invitation only, to students in
all fields of study.
