Sophomore's Poster Wins First Place in World AIDS Day Competition

Sophomore Sashkya Arce won first place in the Student Health Center's Annual World AIDS Day competition with a poster that features talking heads spreading the word about the disease. Arce, who plans on majoring in computer graphic design, says she was inspired by the simple, yet powerful act of communication.

Now in its third year, the competition requires students to submit a hand-drawn or painted poster about AIDS. The entries are then photographed and sent via e-mail to Lehman students for their votes. This year, over two hundred students cast votes for their favorite entry.

The first-place winner takes home a $100 prize, followed by $75 for second place, and $50 for third place.
