Students Rate Lehman Highly in Annual CUNY Survey
Lehman has been rated highly in terms of student satisfaction on The City University of New York's 2006 Student Experience Survey. In 19 out of the 40 categories listed in the survey, the percentage of Lehman students who described themselves as "very satisfied" ranked first or tied with first among other CUNY senior colleges.
The survey was compiled by CUNY's Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, which mailed 17,000 surveys to undergraduates attending one of the University's seventeen colleges in April 2006. A random sample of 1,000 students was drawn from among degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled at each college, and the responses were used to compile the data.
Among the facilities and services at Lehman that scored well in the "satisified" and/or "very satisfied" ratings were the College's athletic facilities, financial aid services, registration procedures, career planning services, student health services, and academic advising services.
The survey described Lehman in other ways as well. It revealed, for instance, that 65 percent of Lehman students spend at least some time each week providing care for other people, and that 61 percent hold a job at least part-time. Virtually all Lehman students (94 percent) have a computer, and most also have a high-speed Internet connection (60 percent).
