Theatre Major Joins with Alum to Write New Off-Broadway Plays

Theatre Program alumnus Angel Dillemuth ('06) and theatre major Felix Otero ('07) are debuting two new works, Brothers and Shades of Gray, at the Manhattan Repertory Company on Wednesday, April 4, at 9 p.m.; Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m.; Friday, April 6, at 9 p.m.; and Saturday, April 7, 7 p.m. In support of its students, a group of Lehman faculty, administrators, and staff plan to attend the Saturday performance. Directed by Henry Ovalles ('06), Brothers stars Dillemuth, the play's author, and theatre major Juan Ramirez. In the play, two brothers try to conquer their demons through the power of writing, one with a novel and the other with his poetry. The brothers do their best to support each other and overcome the adversity in their lives, which includes a dysfunctional family and an addiction to heroin.

Written by Otero, Shades of Gray stars Ovalles and Samuel Rivera ('06). The play is about two men with very little in common who meet in a hospital room. As they begin to share their thoughts on life, love, and destiny, each learns more than he expects about the other and about himself.

Since graduating from Lehman, Dillemuth has been busy auditioning and performing for theatre, film, and television. He is a member of The Bronx Repertory Company and The Children's Theatre Company at Lehman. Brothers will be the second play by Dillemuth to be produced by the Manhattan Repertory Company.

Otero has been performing at Lehman as an actor and singer for years, and is also a member of The Bronx Repertory Company. His last play was a finalist in the Nuestras Voces national playwriting contest at Repertorio Español. Shades of Gray will be his first play presented at the Manhattan Repertory Company.
