Dr. Susan Polirstok Named Director of CUNY Teacher Academy at Lehman

Susan Polirstok
Dr. Polirstok has been a professor of special education at Lehman for the last 25 years. As director, she will oversee the recruitment of up to 50 students for the first Teacher Academy class at Lehman. The students will attend an orientation at Lehman over the summer and begin classes in the fall. Students in the Teacher Academy will receive incentives, such as free tuition for four years, paid internships and hands-on experience in New York City schools.
"The CUNY Teacher Academy at Lehman College is a bold initiative to address the critical shortage of math and science teachers in New York City, New York State and nationally, and prepare our K-12 students for competitive jobs in a global marketplace," says Dr. Polirstok.
